Abstract

The phenomenon of study is "Fluid Streamlines Flow in an Annular Cavity".


Previously prepared photo-images are available from independent research conducted with 3. Pattison of Kings College (London, England) for Professor J. Sandford (retired) at von Karman Institute of Fluid Dynamics (Brussels, Belgium) during the summer of 1982.

Dye-injected water is mapped onto a series of Euclidean planes within the annular cavity of a blunt, ogive axisymmetric body which has a variable angle of attack, constant fluid flow, and a 1:1 ratio of cavity depth to width.

This paper shows the relationship between digitized flow-field images, the geometry of their location and associated mathematical models which are used to derive computer codes.
