Abstract
This paper describes the development and implementation of a simulator for the hypercube model of distributed memory parallel processors on a TCP/IP based network of UNIX1 workstations. One of the primary advantages of this simulator is that multiple processors do work in parallel and actual real-time speedups are therefore possible. Benchmarks are provided for various network and operating system configurations along with an analysis of the performance and a comparison with the performance of the same programs on an actual hypercube, the Intel iPSC2.
