Abstract

A methodology for determining nuclear power plant limited conditions for operation using risk assessment techniques is developed. The analysis of an emergency core cooling system of a pressurized water reactor demonstrates the methodology and shows that the methodology has a practical application in the area of nuclear plant operation. The results provide quantitative support for plant limited conditions for operation which are consistent with respect to risk.
