Abstract

The objective of this thesis is a comparison of classical and modern control design for a radar antenna drive. This drive is a DC motor which is used in an automatic tracking system. This drive requires a position controller In order to insure the desired operating characteristics. The emphasis of this thesis topic is to perform an analysis and design of the physical drive control system by modeling it mathematically. The design of the control system will be carried out using the classical method and the modern method. Then, a comparison is done to see which method will perform better and how close each method comes to meeting the given specifications operating on both servomechanism mode and regulator mode.
