Prediction of turbine performances with stator restaggering
Turbine performances with different design radial velocity diagrams as affected by stator restaggering were investigated with a computational method. This approach, based on radial equilibrium and continuity considerations at the inlets and exits of each blade row. allowed velocity diagram properties to be determined across the annulus height. Blade viscous losses as affected by changes in blade staggering were analyzed and a correlation was presented to account for the overall losses. Results of computation with different stator design radial velocity diagrams and hub reactions at various stator stagger settings were presented. It was shown that the design radial velocity diagram significantly influences the performance of a turbine with stator restaggering.
