Abstract

The purpose of this thesis paper is to provide a review of the current state of microcomputer based speech output systems and to relate the problems encountered in attempting to install one on a micro computer at the University of Tennessee so that it could be used as an aid to handicapped students and faculty there. It is hoped that the information provided within this thesis and appendixes will serve as a guideline for a future successful installation.
