Abstract

This study examines the theoretical and measured sensitivities of a practical Commutated Bandpass Filter (C.B.F.). The usefulness of a particular filter in application is often dependent upon the stability of its performance characteristics. This stability is related to the filter's sensitivities, or changes in filter performance resulting from changes in the filter components.

Key papers on the theory and development of commutated network filters are highlighted to provide a background on the C.B.F. A practical switched capacitor C.B.F. is developed for concentrated examination. General network sensitivities are discussed and theoretical network sensitivities for the developed C.B.F. are derived.

Measured sensitivity data for the developed C.B.F. is presented and comparison of the theoretical and measured sensitivities is made. Discussion of agreement and differences is given in the conclusion along with suggestions for further study.
