Abstract

This research describes the development of a fast responding temperature sensor, the Dynamic Compensated Temperature Sensor (DOTS). The signal compensated technique was used to create a compensated signal that has a shorter time constant than that of the traditional temperature sensors. This research developed the general theoretical analysis of the DOTS in the Laplace domain and the time domain. It also describes the analysis, design, and construction of two types of compensated sensors: the Dynamic Compensated Sensor Using Independent Signals (DCI) and the Dynamic Compensated Sensor Using Lagged Signals (DCL). Through the discussion of these two kinds of new sensors, it is determined that the DCL has better behavior than the DCI. Experiments were performed with the DCL and the results show that the DCL is indeed faster than other temperature sensors and there is no overshoot.
