Abstract
This study focused on that portion of downtime during which a failed equipment waits for service. The objective was to demonstrate the potential of the Shortest Repair Time scheduling procedure for reducing work order waiting time. In order to perform the analysis and test the feasibility of this scheduling procedure, several simulation models were developed. The simulation results showed that SRT can reduce downtime. A series of experiments with models using different operating conditions revealed that SRT's performance depends on work load, and at low levels of work load, SRT and FCFS are equivalent.
