Abstract

The purpose in undertaking this work was to determine by experiment and observation the operating characteristics of a direct air cooling system and to present this information in such a manner that it will meet, in part, the demand for such material.

The special ends or determinations to which these tests have been directed are: (1) An investigation of the relation of humidity to the heat transfer rate; (2) the effect of the coefficient of performance on the refrigerating efficiency; and (3) the resultant effects on the operation of the compressor of the system due to the variation of conditions under which the air cooling unit was operated.
