Abstract
This thesis describes a data base system featuring a natural language interface for access. Both language interface and data base manipulation procedures are written entirely in the programming language Prolog. This system translates a subset of English sentences into a logic expression which is then applied to a data base of facts.
The interface implemented in this system utilizes the work of McCord who has proposed a natural language grammar in clausal logic based on a system of syntactic items and slots.
