Abstract
In accordance with the problems stated above, the objectives of this study are: (l) to provide general knowledge of Taiwan's agricultural development with special emphasis on the postwar period, (2) to analyze the major factors fostering the remarkable development and examine the methods and functions of their contributions, and (3) to identify the implications for further planning of Taiwan's agricultural development and to reveal some data that may be helpful for other underdeveloped countries in the tropical and subtropical areas.
