Jack Neely, prominent local historian and author, conducted "The Suttree Stagger" -- a seven-hour walking tour through downtown Knoxville and the nearby suburbs of Mechanicsville and Happy Hollow. Stops included various local settings described in McCarthy's early book "Suttree."

J.C. Tumblin covered the event in his article "Why Am I Here?" for the Fountain City History and News website.
