Abstract

Colleges and universities are presently making decisions on the use of the Internet in assisting individuals with their career development. The purpose of this study was to gather and analyze baseline data on how institutions use the Internet to deliver career information. Gopher and World Wide Web servers of land-grant institutions were examined for categories of career information. This research revealed similarities in career related categories of information found on the Internet at the institutions, as well as variations in breadth and depth of such information, and ease in locating it. Recommendations that may be useful to institutions developing ways to access career information on the Internet are included in the study.
