Abstract

Research into control techniques for sediment-related nonpoint source pollution indicates that many current field practices are not effective. Current technology appears sufficient to control many soil erosion and sediment problems, however, improper selection, placement, and maintenance appear to be common problems. This thesis provides guidance for application, design, and maintenance, and to help give insight into common troubles associated with selected soil erosion and sediment control techniques. The references used in preparing this thesis were obtained by literature review, written and verbal communication with individuals involved in the related practice (such as manufacturers and field inspectors), and through field observation.
