Abstract

A transportable knowledge-based computer system was developed and implemented to assist maintenance technicians in diagnosis and repair of faults in industrial equipment. The computer system incorporates still-frame video images and expert system software to facilitate assistance to the technician. Background, design considerations, and a complete description of the system implementation are included. The implementation description consists of hardware, software, and knowledge acquisition for an initial application of the system.
