(From the Introduction)
The two weeks of observation in the United States Public Health Service Indian Hospital in Pine Ridge as part of the student's year of graduate study in nutrition was planned for several reasons. The purpose of this observation was to gain knowledge of the organization and functioning of a local unit of a national health agency in the United States and to learn about public health work in the Indian Reservation of South Dakota, and about the nutrition section particularly.
