Our communities : our urban forests

It is important that the benefits of urban trees and vegetation are recognized in order that their existence be maintained within towns and cities. Urban trees contribute a great deal to a community, including climate modification, air pollution control, noise pollution abatement, conservation of soils, while also providing an environment for wildlife habitats and biodiversity within the community.

The proof that trees and vegetation do, in fact substantially contribute to a healthy environment provides a resource for influencing local government leaders and citizens to recognize the value an urban forestry program has to a community.
