Abstract
An infinite linear array of side by side parallel dipole antennas in free space and over a perfectly conducting ground plane is analyzed via an integral equation technique. A two term trigonometric approximation for the current distribution along each dipole element is made in order to solve the integral equation. The antenna terminal parameters are calculated as the main beam is scanned from broadside to endfire. The current distribution along each dipole element is determined for a select number of scan angles.
The results of this analysis are consistent with observations made concerning the behavior of other types of phased array antennas.
