Abstract

Host-based firewalling is an important part of a comprehensive security plan. This paper explores a robust solution that can be adapted and used at any institution, along with the challenges involved in its development. The solution implements custom hostbased firewall policies via configuration management software, accounting for external networks sanctioned by the United States while striving to maintain adaptability and portability.
