Abstract

Although, a great deal of work has been done on this subject elsewhere, it will be worth while to learn just what variations in the production of dairy cows in Tennessee result from the influence of factors known to have an effect, complete records for one year for 482 Tennessee Register of Merit Jersey cows are available in the Dairy Office, University of Tennessee for the compilation of the data. These records have been used in arranging the tables found in this work. The range of the production and the percentage of fat of these cows is very wide. The individual cows show considerable irregularities in production from month to month. The aim of this work is to determine how closely these irregularities follow the general laws that have been formulated according to the variations observed at other places.
