Abstract

This experimental work was conducted to verify a dynamic model of an induction motor in the laboratory environment. A computer was used to generate control signals to change the load torque to the induction motor, and to collect the transient data from the motor in response to load torque changes.


The dynamic model of the induction motor chosen for the experiment was a well-known fifth order nonlinear differential model. A derivation of it was presented. The extended Kalman filter was used to estimate the model parameters.

The measured data were compared with those predicted by the fifth order model. It was found that the data predicted by the model agreed well with the experimental data.
