Martin Marietta Energy Systems News : a content analysis

Martin Marietta Energy Systems News is a publication for the employees of four energy-related facilities operated by Martin Marietta for the Department of Energy. Editors of the publication were interested in research that would provide a basis for future editorial decisions, and aid them in determining whether editorial objectives were being met. The method of content analysis was chosen, and the results indicated that efforts toward meeting editorial objectives is evidenced through the content but a readership survey is necessary to determine if employees are being informed. Results also provided editors with an idea of the news types contained in the publication, the frequency with which news types appear, sources of news and areas of concentration.
