Abstract
We obtain a general technique for constructing wild Cantor sets in Hilbert cube manifolds. Using this we present two cell-like, totally noncellular decompositions of a compact Q-manifold M, one of which produces a quotient space M/GH such that M/GH x I is a Q-manifold but that, for any map F:B2 → M/GH which restricts to an embedding on BdB2 , F(B2) has nonempty interior in M/GH.
