Charles Mussett was the first student registered as a Fine Arts Major at the Department of Fine Arts in January 1948. He was also the first Art Major to graduate from the university in December 1949. He finished the academic year as an assistant at the UNiversity of Mississippi at Oxford with Stuart Purser. He received his MFA at the University of Iowa.
