Abstract

A computer program producing a net list, pin assignment list, check list and list of materials needed for the computer-aided circuit design (CAD) process from a hardware diagram has been designed and implemented in Pascal. In addition, an approach to recognize hand-drawn schematic diagrams has been considered and carried out as one of the very early stages of complete design automation (DA) for very large scale integration (VLSI) circuits. Algorithms for discriminating between connection lines and gate symbols, identifying the type of symbols are presented. Further improvements with these approached are discussed.
