Abstract

The project modified the UT-MUMPS DEC-10 version from a single user nonmultiprogramming system to a single user the multiprogramming system. The system installed multitasking facilities that support the user in designing, coding, and running his multitasking program, which increases the program efficiency by permitting overlap between the terminal input and the operations performed by the CPU.

The thesis describes the design considerations and implementation of the MUMPS multiprogramming system. It specifies the additional command of the UT-MUMPS system that supports the user in writing his multitasking program. The thesis gives an experimental example of the MUMPS multitasking program that runs by this multiprogramming system and points out the possibilities for further improvement of this system.
