Understanding the International Teaching Assistant Training Program: A Case Study at a Northwestern Research University

Using data obtained from nine international teaching assistants (ITAs) and a program director, the writers examined an ITA training program at a Northwestern university. They present results on the training program's role in familiarizing ITAs with the campus and the community, building networks, improving presentation and teaching skills, and promoting cultural sharing. They also present results revealing mixed feelings about program design. Finally, they discuss the implications of the results.
