Abstract

Most of the research that has compared task-oriented job analysis methods with worker-oriented job analysis methods has involved comparing the results when both methods are used to classify a group of jobs into families. In this study, both approaches were used to analyze one specific job, the job of MBA student, and the results were compared by translating the task-oriented data into worker-oriented form. The results showed that, although both methods rated Information Processing as the most important performance dimension, the methods produced significantly different overall job profiles. The task-oriented approach placed relatively more emphasis on formal job qualifications that an incumbent brings to a job, rather than general abilities or skills related to the performance of job duties.
