Abstract

An analysis is presented of the relationships between particle size and the signal magnitude obtained by light scattered from a dual scatter laser velocimeter interference fringe pattern. The results of the analysis are used to perform a parametric study for some of the factors that affect the performance of a laser interferometer that is designed to measure velocity and particle size. A comparison of the experimental data with performance predictions confirms the essential validity of the analysis.
