Abstract
The electrochemical reduction of carbon disulfide was examined. Investigations were made in order to elucidate the mechanism of this process. The principal product of this reduction, the dianion 4,5-dimercapto-1,3-dithiolen-2-thione (C3S52-) which was realized in quantitative yield, was used to prepare some polysulfur organic compounds.

The preparation and characterization of some nickel-dithiolene complexes is presented. These complexes are formed by the reaction of nickelous salts with the product of the electrochemical reduction of carbon disulfide. The electrochemical and some physical properties of these compounds are reported.

The preparation of some new bis-tetradentate ligands was carried out. These compounds consist of two chelating centers joined via a tetrathiafulvalene moiety. These ligands should react with certain transition metal ions to form new and interesting binuclear complexes.

Attempts to prepare the platinum (Il) and nickel (II) complexes of these ligands are also discussed.
