Abstract
Transportation corridors are defined by a beginning and end point, and a corridor radius. These corridors contain all or part of the transportation network within this area. In this paper a method of extracting and displaying transportation corridors from a geographic database is outlined. In particular, the extraction of corridors containing both transportation network elements, nodes and links, and the calculation of the corridor limits are discussed. Similarly, problems of displaying multi-modal transportation networks and the methods used to overcome these problems, by interfacing the geographic database with a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) package, are outlined.
