Abstract

The primary purpose was to develop reading materials on different levels of difficulty that would help meet the varied needs of the illiterate enrollees with limited vocabularies. Another purpose was to see if, through the use of these reading materials, the enrollees would progress faster than they had through the use of published books and workbooks as class reading materials. Still a further purpose in developing reading materials was to see if more interest in learning to read could be developed among the illiterate enrollees.
