Abstract

This thesis is concerned with the problem of transverse load distribution in slab and girder highway bridges. Six slab and girder highway bridges that were tested to failure are analyzed to estimate their yield moment capacity utilizing different load distribution methods. The remainder of this chapter introduces the load distribution problem and its role in the bridge rating process.
