Abstract

High-temperature He(I) photoelectron spectra of the vapors over heated samples of T1C1, T1Br, T1I, T1BO2, T1ReO4, T1NO3, and T12SO4 have been obtained. The spectra obtained in this work are similar to published spectra.

Relativistic overlapping spheres multiple scattering Xa calculations have been performed for T1F, T1C1, T1Br, T1I, T12O, T12S, and T1NO3. Agreement with experiment, where available, is satisfactory. However, the results of the calculations suggest that previous assignments of the T1 6s level as the most labile level have been erroneous and over-simplified. The results of the calculations suggest that the T1 6s level contributes to two molecular levels, one being the most labile level, the other being below the anion p levels, but with the greater contribution going to the latter.
