Analysis of participant characteristics and program evaluation Tennessee/Southern Region 4-H Fish and Wildlife Adult Leaders' Conference 29 April-3 May 1981

Fifty-five participants from eight states attended the Tennessee/ Southern Region 4-H Fish and Wildlife Adult Leaders' Conference. The Conference was held at the Clyde M. York Training Center near Crossville, Tennessee, from April 29 through May 3, 1981. The purposes of this study were to determine the type of person that was attracted to the Conference; to determine the participants' improvement in subject matter knowledge; and to make recommendations for future conferences. A Leader Attendance Survey, Conference Evaluation, and Pre- and Post-tests were used in gathering the data presented in this study. Responses on the Leader Attendance Survey were extremely varied. It was therefore concluded that it was not possible to determine a specific type of person that was attracted to the Conference. However, several generalized groups were noted. In general, significant improvements in subject matter knowledge were noted, and it was concluded that subject matter knowledge did, in fact, improve as a result of the Conference. The average improve ment was an increase of four points (17%). On the whole, the Conference was considered a success. Most participants' comments were positive, and recommendations for future conferences were made on the basis of survey instrument results and participant comments as well as class leader suggestions.
