Abstract
Although the flame spectrum of yttrium has been well defined in previous work, very little information was available in regard to the effect of spectral and radiation interferences, other than the rare earths, upon the emission of yttrium. Information regarding the optimum conditions for the flame-photometric determination of yttrium was lacking also. The main objective of this phase of work was clarification of these points. Development of a suitable method of analysis for yttrium was also considered.
