Abstract

There is no general methodology to convert (E)-1-alkenyl boronic acids into all the 1-halo-1-alkenes (F, Cl, and Br) with complete retention of configuration. Thus, it is the goal of this research to obtain a mild methodology whereby the boron moiety in (E)-1-alkenyl boronic acids is replaced by iodine with retention of configuration utilizing gamma alumina catalysis.
