Abstract

This thesis consists principally of a series of reports written for the course in Power Plants. These reports have been rewritten and enlarged, but they are rather inconsistent end unconnected. For instance, notably in the decision of type of engines, the conclusions arrived at when the original report was written have been reversed in the revision. The original report has, however, been put in with the first decision, together with the reasons for the wrongness of this decision and its reversal. These contradictions might have been left out to the author's credit, but they were left in so that in case any one should read this thesis he will see the blunders into which a beginner may fall.


The sum total of this thesis could probable be put in half the number of words by one skilled in engineering and the use of the English language, but of course this thesis will never be reed end lack of time would not permit a rewriting, so that it will have to remain in its present form.
