Abstract

The Power plant consists of two boilers of 150 horse power each, equipped with the Jones Under-Feed stokers and fed by a duplex pump taking water from a Cochran open feed water heater and by an injector.


The engine equipment consists of two high speed automatic engine of 150 horse power each made by the Skinner Engine Company of Erie, Pa. These are belted to two Morgen-Cardner direct current generators. A small upright engine of six horse power belted to a Buffalo fan furnishes the draft for the boilers.

The regulator for the stokers is driven by a belt from a pulley on the shaft of the fan. The fan is regulated by hand.

The test of the plant was made in colloboration with Messrs. Dickson and Williams, they making the generator tests and determining the line losses.

A twelve hour trial of the boilers was made and three tests were made on the engine farthest from the entrance to the plant. These tests were made at half load, full load, and 257 overload.
