Measurements of the electrical resistivity of aluminum by electomagnetic induction
A through transmission apparatus is designed and built to measure resistivities. It is used to measure the resistivity of each of five samples of aluminum 7075 alloy and the result is compared to a previously made calibrated measurement for each sample. Both the magnitude and phase of the EMF induced in the pick-up coil are dependent upon the resistivity. These are compared with computed values determined for several resistivities and linearly interpolated to find two values of the resistivity of each sample--one for the magnitude and one for the phase--for at least three different readings. Also the error analysis is made, including edge effects, and is compared with the errors from the previous measurements.
