Abstract

Procedures for determining the importance of component failures to system failure for systems undergoing phased missions are described. These procedures are applied to the Shutdown Heat Removal System of the Clinch River Breeder Reactor Plant. The system unreliability for a seven day mission with offsite electrical power unavailable is 2.14 x 10-4. The results show that for the situation analyzed, the onsite electrical power sources are the most important components.
