Charismatic/Pentecostal Appropriation of Media Technologies in Nigeria and Ghana

A discussion of the use of electronic media by religious collectivities as the preferred means for the transmission of their message to urban areas of African is presented. Focusing on the Christian and Pentecostal movements in Ghana and Nigeria, an analysis of how this use of media concurs with and challenges their religious ideologies. The use of electronic media for the transmission of religious messages and teachings are transforming the religious landscape by taking their movements to global levels, and by beginning the creation of a transnational and homogenized culture.
