Abstract
Introduction: The flora of East Tennessee is exceedingly rich both in numbers of species and individuals. Along the eastern border of the state we have the largest untouched remnants of the original hardwood forests of Eastern North America. The indigenous broad-leaved tree species outnumber those of any other equivalent area in this country, yet surprisingly little mention has been made of them in literature.
