Abstract

The primary object of this work is an investigation of the operating conditions and the power requirements of the marble finishing mills and the machine shops of the state of Tennessee. It is not the object of this report to introduce any new scheme of factory management but simply to offer suggestions as to how the operating conditions in the several plants visited could be improved. Tre different units to which the power consumption was reduced will be explained later in the report.
