Gain and clamp control for ghost cancellation enhancement
The phenomenon of "ghosting" in terrestrial broadcast television is one of the most significant sources of picture distortion in television receivers. A low cost ghost cancellation system developed by Philips Consumer Electronics Company will be on the market in late 1996. As part of the ghost cancellation system performance improvement effort, a control algorithm was developed to enhance the analog system set up, and tested with a data acquisition/analysis prototype system in both a laboratory and field environment. The development and Matlab simulation of the control algorithm, the implementation of the prototype system, and the primary test results are presented in this paper.
