Simulation of stormwater response, Grissom Air Force Base, Indiana
This study was an attempt to evaluate three stormwater simulation models: The University of Tennessee Model (TENN-I), the Storage, Treatment, Overflow, and Runoff Model (STORM), and the Stormwater Management Model (SWMM). Two parametric models (TENN-I and STORM) and one deterministic model (SWMM) are evaluated by comparing real storm hydrographs which occurred at Grissom Air Force Base with the simulated hydrographs produced by the models. Rainfall and runoff data collected at three watersheds within Grissom Air Force Base were used in the evaluations.
Four characteristics of the simulated hydrographs were used to make the comparisons: peak discharge, time to peak, volume of the direct storm runoff, and hydrograph shape. Sensitivity analysis was performed on each model to determine which parameters produced the most and least sensitive effect on the simulated output.
