Abstract

An edge-based segmentation algorithm is developed by enhancing a simple edge detection method with temporal information. A brief overview of segmentation, with an emphasis on edge detection methods, is presented before discussing the theory and implementation of the Temporal Edge-Based Segmentor (TEES). The edge detection method used in TEES is described in detail along with the methods that implement temporal information. The performance is discussed along with suggestions for improvement and further implementation.
