Abstract
Wood has become an important alternative energy source. This ash from wood fired energy sources contains trace toxic elements that are controlled by the "Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976" (RCRA). This thesis investigates the impacts of RCRA on wood energy and evaluates the potential for use of wood ash in the chemical and agricultural industries. The historical uses for wood ash are presented and possible uses for the ash are investigated.
