Abstract

The object of this research is to develop a system that applies the Model Excitation Technique to identify selected targets. Analysis of ultrasound signatures produced by the targets when acoustically excited is the basis of the Model Excitation Technique.


In the process of developing a system, a machine has been designed, constructed, and tested. This machine is programmable and is capable of detecting and identifying up to eight specific targets, although, only three targets were tested. All measurements performed by the Measurement System are programmed by the controller, whose programmability is maintained with the use of EPROMs.
